Longbow Day 26th July 2009

It was a dull day but fortunately the rain held off for Longbow Day held at Archer's Lodge on Sunday 26th July. The Bowyers' party was led by the Deputy Master Mr. Richard Model assisted by the Upper Warden Mr. Howard Mundy. On arrival the guests observed the competitions in progress, walking the length of the shooting ground in the company of the Society's President Mr. Ray Gallop. There was quite a strong wind which challenged the archers' skills to the full.

After the event the party adjourned to the club house to enjoy the customary afternoon tea of sandwiches, creamed scones with strawberries and some excellent cake.

Outside later the winning competitors gathered for the presentation of the prizes that included for the first time an award for both Ladies and Gentlemen, for the best gold, in the form of Rose Bowl's presented by the Deputy Master of the Bowyers' Company.
