Presentation of Gold Certificate to Mr AA Lacey, Saturday 20th July 2013
At a lunch on Saturday 20th July, organized by the Clerk of The Craft Guild of Traditional Bowyers and Fletches, Mrs. Veronica Soar, the Master had the great pleasure of presenting the Bowyers' Gold Award Certificate to Mr. Tony Lacey. Over the past sixty years Tony Lacey, who originally became interested in archery with the Bristol Aeroplane Company Archery Club in 1959 has fulfilled many different achievements in the archery field.
As a Regional Coach he travelled the UK and Northern Ireland training and examining prospective coaches. He has also been Chairman of the National Coaching Committee and served on the National training Squad for ten years.
There are many other posts Tony has held but it is for his long lasting love of the long-bow that he is most proud of having made his first bow some forty years ago from a piece of Oregon yew.
At the most convivial lunch Tony was very pleased to re acquaint himself with one of his longstanding friends, Liveryman Brian Wright, who he spent many a happy time with in his National Coaching days.
