Bowyers' Inter-Livery Shooting Team

On Wednesday 17 May, on a rainy morning at the Holland & Holland shooting ground near Ruislip, eight intrepid Bowyers assembled at the summons of our shooting captain, Duncan Samuel, to represent the Company in the annual Inter-Livery Clay Pigeon Shoot, as Bowyers A and Bowyers B, in competition with 74 other livery company teams.

As is traditional, the competition was won by our friends of Gunmakers A, scoring a massive 351. Bowyers A were pleased to come in the top third with 264, and Bowyers B were not disgraced, finishing respectably in the second third with 227. All met up afterwards for the equally traditional good-humoured hog-roast lunch in the marquee, where the Master came to meet them too.

In the photo, from left to right, happy despite the rain, are Bill Cunningham, Col Adrian Walton, Simon Archibald, Robert Durrant, Duncan Samuel (captain), Nigel Heilpern, Myles Archibald and Ben Glazier.
