Bowyers' Prize Day, 7 July 2018

On the gloriously sunny first Saturday of July, 40 top modern archers by invitation from around the country met at the Royal Toxophilite Society's archery ground in Burnham, Bucks, They were there to compete for the Bowyers' Prize Day medals in a competition dating back to 1910, still awarding medals cast from the Bowyers' original 1910 die.

After a full day's shooting, with Gents' and Ladies' competitions for both Recurve and Compound bows, the winners and runners-up were presented with their gold and silver medals by the Master of the Bowyers' Company, Tony Kench, in one of the final engagements of his term of office.

Gathered for an end-of-day photo with the Master were the four Gents medal-winners: Jonathan Shales (Recurve Silver), Duncan Busby (Compound Gold), Carl Richards (Compound Silver) and Alex Smith (Recurve Gold), and the four Ladies medal-winners: Verity Gray (Compound Silver), Naomi Folkard (Recurve Gold, retiring after 15 years), Lucy Mason (Compound Gold) and Sarah Bettles (Recurve Silver).
