Clive Arding was born on 30 December 1946 and educated at Kent College, Canterbury, Kent. After leaving college he qualified as a Chartered Surveyor in 1969, subsequently becoming a Fellow in 1979.
Clive has spent his entire professional career with Richard Ellis (now known as CBRE), International Property Consultants. He was appointed an Associate Partner of the Firm in 1970, shortly after qualification, and a full Equity Partner in 1976 at the age of 29. He served on the Firm's Management Committee over the period 1980 to 1986 holding the role of Finance Partner 1980 to 1984.
Following the incorporation and sale of the Firm, Clive remained as a Senior Director of CB Richard Ellis and Chairman of its City Business Department, a multi-disciplined team handling clients commercial property needs within the City of London, Holborn, on the South Bank and in Docklands. His principal expertise is in the area of office agency, rent review and development work within London advising owner-occupiers, investors and developers. He also acts as an expert witness and as an approved RICS Arbitrator on commercial rent reviews.
Clive Arding is a Past Chairman of the City Branch of The Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors and has served on a number of RICS Committees and on General Council. He is also a Liveryman of the Company of Chartered Surveyors and a Founder Member of both the British Council for Offices and the City Architecture Forum.
The Arding family have a long association with the Worshipful Company of Bowyers, stretching back to the early 1800's. Clive became the sixth Master of the Bowyers' Company to carry the family name. He presented the first Lady Bowyers Brooch to the Company in 2002 and a Loving Cup in 2006.
Clive married Mary (Storey) in 1974: they have two children, James, also a Liveryman, who is a qualified Vet and Kate, who has a BA in History and who works for an American Investment Bank.
Outside his professional career, Clive enjoys skiing, sailing and the arts. He supports a number of charities including in particular "The Story of Christmas Appeal" of which he is an Appeal Vice President. He is also a Governor of the Central Foundation Girls School in Bow, East London with which the Company has an association.
