Meeting with Kings College MA Students
The Bowyers have for some years helped to support a number of both history and war Studies students at King’s College London, and we have developed a great relationship with King’s. King’s runs its own K + project providing students from under privileged backgrounds great access to the university, many of whose events we are asked to attend. We have also joined King’s alumni and friends by reason of our student awards or by giving our time to mentor and advise where we can.
With this in mind, the Master and Wardens (Ian, David and Nigel) recently met with our two sponsored King’s MA students at the Edgar Wallace pub off Fleet Street, for supper. Nick Bamfield is studying the history of Persia (Iran), oil, and its exploration in the first half of the 20th century. Nick used to work for BP and has access to their archives. Emma Schroeder is at King’s via the United States and is studying the interrelationship between asymmetric warfare and cyber warfare. We all had a very convivial evening, and talked about much else besides.
